Bourne Parking were responsible for the design and construction of the new Southwater multi-storey car park that now provides six levels of car parking across three floors, accommodating 300 vehicles for visitors to the events centre and the wider town centre.

Located in the centre of Telford, the car park benefits from existing vehicular access routes to the rear and provides a level route to the adjacent Hotel and on into Southwater and the Town Park.

The design is based on 16m clear span,, maximising space and improving access. In addition it features “smart glass” technology enabling the outside of the building to change colour. The sloping topography has also influenced the design of the building which has been designed to minimise the amount of ground disruption and also to keep it lower when viewed against the adjacent Energy Centre and Ice Rink.

The security of site users has been of paramount importance in the development of the car park design and has led to the proposal of open sided decks providing greater passive surveillance.
