In partnership with Network Rail and the Department for Transport, train operator GWR expanded its existing train maintenance facility in Exeter to accommodate an increase in its fleet size in the Devon and Cornwall area. The new depot is situated next to Exeter St. David’s station and provides enhanced modern servicing, cleaning and maintenance facilities.

Bourne Rail and Special Projects were appointed to install the structural steelwork and cladding to the Carriage Wash, Carriage Wash plant room, maintenance building, Under Frame Cleaning structure and two pipe bridges. Bourne Special Projects also installed internal and external cat ladders (with hatches through the gantry flooring), floor grating, balustrades, steel stairs, precast concrete stairs, decking, crane rails, shear studs, pit columns, intumescent coating, firewall and Mansafe systems to the roofs and roof walkways.
