Bourne attended two local careers fairs this week to offer free advice to pupils interested in working in the construction industry.

Bourne employees from various departments including Project Management, Design Engineering, Production, Commercial, Project and Bid Management attended Parkstone Grammar School and Bournemouth and Poole College careers fairs where they met with children, parents and college students to discuss the different career paths available to them.

Production Director, John Flynn met with school leavers to discuss apprenticeship opportunities at Bourne while Assistant Commercial Manager, Tom Hunt gave advice on the application process.

Attending Parkstone Grammar School for Girls was also a fantastic opportunity for us to banish the old-fashioned gender stereotypes that can discourage women from joining the construction industry. Bid Manager, Valentina Biles was on hand to give an insight into the industry from a female perspective and discuss the significant range of careers available in our sector.

We hope we’ve inspired a new generation to consider a future in what is now one of the biggest and most diverse sectors in the country.
