Ferrybridge Multifuel 1 is a £300 million multifuel plant situated at Ferrybridge ‘C’ Power Station near Knottingley in West Yorkshire.
Bourne were responsible for the procurement and the installation of over 5,000 tonnes of heavy structural steelwork and metalwork products, including columns, beams, open grid flooring,
hand railing, stairs and runway beams, all manufactured with a galvanised finish.
The requirements of the project specifications for manufacturing, quality and installation were also of the highest standards and used the latest Eurocode standards and requiring CE marking in advance of the legal necessity to do so in the United Kingdom.
The plant is now capable of generating 70MW of low carbon electricity (enough to power around 160,000 homes) using a range of fuel sources from across Yorkshire and the wider region, including waste-derived fuels from various sources of municipal solid waste, commercial and industrial waste and waste wood.
