28 Sept 2021: Congratulations to the Bourne Steel team who were presented with a Commendation Award for their project at 80 Charlotte Street, Fitzrovia, London project at the BCSA Structural Steel Design Awards 2021. This is a unique urban revival development with retained and new facades, industrial inspired interiors and materials which reflect the character of the district. This impressive project has been designed to be a net zero carbon operational building.

Judges’ Comment: The Bourne Steel team achieved the surprisingly difficult task of making a complex building look simple. The attention to detail, especially in the steel connections, achieves the industrial feel that the team aimed for. Optimizing beam spans reduces embodied carbon and an all-electric power system that uses renewable electricity ensures the building is net-zero carbon.
