Buckhurst 2 was Bourne Parking’s second project for Willmott Dixon delivered via the Scape Framework. It is a town centre multi-storey car park for Sevenoaks District Council. The Car Park which was constructed over an existing surface car park, and is predominately a long-stay facility for town centre shoppers.
The car park overlooks Knole Park which is a National Trust property and Kent’s last medieval deer park. The elevational treatment and lighting solution were designed specifically to minimise impact as the car park is visibily from Knole Park.
The car park is approximately 48m x 50m and has three suspended levels with an internal two-way ramp. The two stair cores are three-sided pre-cast concrete boxes, with the open end covered with a stainless-steel mesh and planting. The elevations are a combination of elliptical ‘timber look’ aluminium fins and ‘dry stone’ walling.
