Bourne Steel and Crossrail, together with Network Rail and Transport for London, have successfully worked together to complete the new Hayes & Harlington Station to prepare for the start of the Elizabeth Line services.
As part of the rebuild, a new waiting room, ticket hall, single entrance and footbridge have been constructed with lifts that provide step-free access to each platform. The canopies and platforms also had to be lengthened, to accept the new Elizabeth Line trains.
The station, currently served by GWR and TfL, also acts as an interchange for travellers to and from Heathrow Airport.
Originally opened in the 1860’s, the station once had a large goods depot between the station and Grand Union Canal.
