Market Sector: Commercial

Main Contractor: Volker Fitzpatrick

24 King William Street is an impressive 70,000 sq ft headquarters office building located in central London.

This project involved the stripping back of the building to its structural frame with Bourne Special Projects programmes to include the building of two new floors and associated structural strengthening works.

The structural steel package included strengthening to accommodate an additional two floors, plus an external plant well. Bourne were also responsible for the alteration of the façade cladding line to maximise use of the site and increase internal floor area to all floors. Bourne erected beams along the north, south and east elevations, 300mm from the face of the existing column cladding line.

Bourne also reconfigured the ground floor to provide a larger double height reception area and larger retail units, as well as the extension of two of the lift shafts to serve the new upper floors.
