Bourne Rail & Special Projects successfully completed their redevelopment of 127 Kensington High Street which transformed the aesthetic of the existing building and dramatically improved the street-scape at this busy intersection in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Part of the existing building was demolished and replaced with a combination of steel framed and in situ concrete construction. Interface decking and precast floor slabs to the lift lobby were installed incorporating glass lenses and complex roof geometry.
As the majority of steelwork is exposed, final condition and appearance were vital to satisfy the architectural requirements. Much of the steelwork had to be erected in areas often inaccessible for a tower crane and required a variety of specialist techniques to be installed and completed on time. This required very detailed planning to ensure a safe and efficient site activity.
