London Bridge is the fourth busiest station in the country and work has been completed, creating a larger station to include more platforms and a new concourse.
Working for Costain, the Bourne Group were responsible for the erection of much of the structural steelwork including staircases and decking to the four staff accommodation blocks, three of which are under the existing Victorian brick arches plus one in the new concourse area. Bourne also provided the steel frames for new retail units and the east and west entrances, as well as the customer information office.
All of the work was created underneath the existing live railway, enabling London Bridge Station to remain open for the 56 million passengers that travel through it each year.
